Animal Education

Local veterinarian Johnny Clark of the Blue Mountain Animal Clinic wants to see Page County schools adopt a vet assistant program at its Technical Center. He says the program would improve students' math and science scores on their SOL's.

The county's new pound will be built next door to the center by next summer. Clark says the students could help the county by volunteering there and getting credit.

"One reason we think this program has potential is because we continually have young people and students interested in helping here, working here on a volunteer basis. They just want to help in some way and be involved," Clark says.

Clark says if parent or students are interested in the animal care program, they should call the Page County School Board at 540-743-6533.
