A judge has certified the first-degree murder charge and other felony charges against Zackery Turner to a grand jury.

Turner is accused of killing 19-year-old Reginald "Shay" Nicholson when a fight broke out at a party in Harrisonburg in November 2008.

Several possible accomplices appeared in front of a Harrisonburg judge Tuesday.

Witnesses of the shooting revealed new details, and some conflicting stories, about just what happened November 9, the night of the alleged murder.

A pair of witnesses testified to hearing Turner admit to killing Nicholson in the hours after the alleged murder.

Witnesses say they heard three or four gunshots after a fight broke out at a party at the Hunters Ridge student housing complex in Harrisonburg.

Witnesses say the fight started after a someone yelled out a derogatory term at a group of men. Several men started fighting at that point. After people heard the gunshots, they ran.

Witnesses say Turner then rode back to Greene County, where he lives. It was then that witnesses say he admitted to shooting Nicholson.

Harrisonburg Police say they believe the shooting was gang related.

The next step in this case is scheduled to occur later this month when a grand jury will hear it and determine if there's enough evidence to go to trial.

That grand jury hearing is scheduled for February 17.
