Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard are being mobilized for active duty in Iraq.

Guard officials say the Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support unit has been ordered to organize and train four ten-Soldier Logistics Military Advisor Teams.

Five soldiers come from northern Virginia, ten are from the Richmond area, five are from the Hampton Roads area and ten are from the Roanoke and southwest Virginia area.

After training at Fort Pickett in Blackstone and Fort Riley, Kansas, the four teams are expected to begin duty at various locations in Iraq in early June. Mobilization is expected to last 12 months.

Soldiers will mentor, coach and advise the Iraqi Army or National Police on various issues relating to logistics.
