Efforts to crack down on car title lenders are officially dead for this year.

The only remaining bill aimed for regulating interest rates for car title lenders has died in both the VA House and the VA Senate.

Experts say the fight isn't over. A committee that includes three state senators and three delegates will take a deeper look into car title lending.

Policy adviser Latonya Reed says, "On one hand the bill died yesterday. On the other hand, car title lending is still an issue that is alive and well. Legislators are interested in getting answers and exploring the issue and learning more about it."

Reed says recommendations from the committee will be made in the next few months for the General Assembly's 2010 session.
