A woman who died when a building collapsed in McDowell County during a storm has been identified.

Davy Mayor Kenneth Gentry says 35-year-old Patty L. Sabo of Big Sandy was helping another person to her car when she was struck by debris.

The accident occurred Wednesday as a wake for Sabo's brother was being held at Twin Branch Pentecostal Academy in Davy. The church's gymnasium building collapsed in high winds.

The brother, 29-year-old Kevin Shirley of Roderfield, fatally shot himself Sunday with a McDowell County sheriff's deputy's gun as he was being processed.
