A Shenandoah County Circuit grand jury has indicted two women for embezzlement from emergency services agencies in New Market.
Forty-five-year-old Nancy Trumbo Mitchell of New Market, who was in the Shenandoah County Jail on an unrelated charge, faces one charge of embezzlement.
Mitchell is the former president of the New Market Volunteer Fire Company and is one of seven volunteers who were fired last year.
Thirty-eight-year-old Sheila Hirsh of Harrisonburg was indicted Wednesday. A criminal complaint says she took $990 from the New Market Rescue Squad of which she was a member.
The complaint also says Mitchell asked Hirsh to take the money to bail Mitchell out of jail.
Both women are scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
