Many areas of the Valley may still face challenges in June when the DTV transition officially happens.
At a town hall meeting in Bergton Thursday night, questions and concerns about the coverage of the signal were addressed
WHSV engineer Mike Dunlap explained, because of the mountains, finding a solution proves challenging.
It turns out viewers who purchased converter boxes and digital televisions in parts of northern Shenandoah County, Fulks Run, Bergton, McGayhesville, and the route 340 corridor near Grottoes fall in just a few areas that still weren't able to see TV3 during the 48 hours the station stopped broadcasting its analog signal.
Rockingham County and WHSV are looking at several options to solve the issue, which include improvements to broadcast tower sites and swapping out television stations in Washington D.C. and Charlottesville in order to get TV3.
Around 140 people attended the meeting.

I don't understand why the people of Hardy County are unable to get WHSV TV 3 in Digital. I have heard that people in Franklin,WV (which is over the mountain from Harrisonburg) had no trouble getting the digital signal. We in Hardy County depend on TV to get local news and weather. That is how lots of people find out that school is closed. TV 3 is also that only way sometimes that we find out about things that are going on in our county. I think that TV 3 should take into consideration that people in Hardy County depend on their station their news and weather.
