Part of West Broad Street in Waynesboro has been blocked off following a bank robbery Monday afternoon. The cordoned off area includes New Hope Road
Police say a man entered the bank with a bag he claimed contained a bomb.
Between five and ten employees were in the bank at the time, but they have all gotten out safely.
At this time the bag is still inside the bank and the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad has been called. The bomb squad says the bag did not contain a bomb. It was just a box, but they followed standard procedure to defuse the container just in case.
Police do not know how much money was stolen or how the suspect left the scene.
However, they do have a description of a man in his mid- to late 20s with shoulder length dreadlocks. He is wearing a light-colored skull cap, a black T-shirt under a light-colored vest or jacket, and black leather gloves with the fingers cut out. He was possibly wearing a fake mustache and fair-colored makeup.

That was pretty elaborate what he did. I hope they catch him. This is not the way to get through this economy.
Times are bad and people are getting desperate. It's sad to see something like this happen and someone driven to this point in which normally they wouldn't do anything like this.
