After a bomb scare and a bank robbery, officers from multiple agencies have been working non-stop since Monday, trying to hunt down a man on the run.

Sgt. Kelly Walker, Waynesboro Police Department, says, "Anytime that something like this happens, it raises the perception of danger in the community and we want to nip that in the bud as soon as possible."

That's exactly what they may have done. Walker says Waynesboro Police arrested 29-year-old Stuart Henry Veney III in his home on North Charlotte Avenue in Waynesboro early Wednesday morning.

Walker adds, "It was a combination of fiscal evidence along with multiple tips from the community that led to the arrest."

Police collected a lot of evidence, including a note left at the bank by the robber and several articles of clothing he was wearing during the robbery.

"Once we located them, a bloodhound confirmed some physical evidence with route of escape and so forth," adds Walker. "At that point, we were able to tie a few things together."

For the Waynesboro Police Department, it's one more arrest adding to an impressive statistic that dates back to the 70s.

Walker says, "Out of eight bank robberies we've had in this city, we've been able to bring charges in seven of them."

Walker also says, while they may have found their man, there is still work to be done.

"We still have prosecution," adds Walker. "So there are issues and items that we need to work on that makes this case sustainable in court."

Veney faces charges of entering a bank while armed with the intent to commit larceny and making a bomb threat.
