Budget problems within the Department of Transportation may soon be affecting truck drivers on our interstates.
Just a few weeks ago, VDOT announced major cuts that would shut down almost all the rest stops on Interstate 81.
Truck drivers say they have a hard time as it is finding places to pull over, and this would create an even bigger problem.
Some drivers say, because they can only drive for so many hours, they may have to break the law to get some sleep.
Truck driver Richard Grandelli says, "I guess there will be more wrecks on the road, or stop on the shoulder and park and take the consequences with the officers and stuff with the overtime."
VDOT does plan on keeping the I-81 rest stops on the borders of the state open, but those are more than 300 miles apart.
