Rain didn't dampen the festivities at Harrisonburg's Westover Park Sunday. Parents and children used Sunday to spend quality time with each other: playing miniature golf, tug of war, and potato sack races. Kids also had the chance to visit a special reading trailer, filled with books.
Todd Palmquist of the Boy's and Girl's Club commented on why the day was unique, saying, "Rather than just going to a soccer game or watching everybody else participate, actually interacting." All of today's activities were free. The local Boys and Girls Club plans to continue this event every year in the first week of August.
