Candace Nicole Knott went before the judge Monday requesting to be released from jail. Augusta County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wood ruled against it.
Twenty-year-old Knott is being held in connection with what police call the gang related May murder of Christopher Kennedy in West Augusta. Knott is charged with Accessory Before the Fact of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
Knott's lawyer argued today that prosecutors never linked Knott to the actual murder scene, and that she does not have a violent past. Family members requested her to be released to them and Knott promised not to flee or talk with fellow gang members.
Ultimately, the Judge Wood ruled that bail would be inappropriate due to the severity of the charges against Knott.
