Greater Hope Ministry says it's a ministry of sexual healing. Those in charge say they counsel gays and lesbians and help change those who are ready to change.
The group provides an alternative to the gay lifestyle at a time when homosexuality is drawing attention from the White House, Supreme Court and churches. Greater Hope claims they can help heal homosexuality.
Jeff and Wendy Waltros lead the ministry in Harrisonburg. The Waltros' aren't just counselors. They say they've been down the wrong path before.
Jeff Waltros explains. "We extend the love and healing and hope of Jesus Christ to those who desire to be free from all types of sexual and relational - what we call - brokenness," he says.
His wife, Wendy, admits, "It is a touchy issue. We don't like to talk about sex in church. It's a big, big problem. We don't understand the wounds behind homosexuality. We're not informed and we don't know what to say."
Wendy says she comes from a background of sexual abuse and lesbian attraction. She says Greater Hope helps her talk openly and honesty about her weakness.
Greater Hope is part of Exodus, an international ministry to gays, parents and pastors.
