Maryland State Police say a West Virginia woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 270 in Frederick County.

The crash occurred just before midnight Thursday on southbound I-270 near Ijamsville.

Police say 42-year-old Deborah Mendez of Kearneysville, West Virginia lost control of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo and it flipped several times and came to rest on its roof. Police say Mendez was pronounced dead on the scene.

Mendez' husband, Robert, was thrown from the car and police say he was taken to Suburban General Hospital with injuries that aren't thought to be life threatening.

Investigators say speed and weather were factors in the crash.
