George Allen and Jim Webb squared off last night in their final televised debate.
The candidates took this last opportunity to make their views known on everything from the war in Iraq to taxes.
Last night's debate also touched on allegations that Allen used racial slurs in the past and on a 1979 magazine article in which Webb argued that women are not fit to command men in battle.
The most heated exchange centered on taxes during a portion of the debate in which candidates were allowed to ask each other questions.
The debate quickly shifted to the war in Iraq, "I want our troops to come home, as soon as possible, I want them to come home in victory, not in defeat," said George Allen. Jim Webb responded by saying "We need to get an announcement from this government we have no desire for a long term basis in Iraq and that we need to reach overtly for a diplomatic solution."
This race's outcome could help determine which party controls the Senate.
