Preschool children can now get free books thanks to a new program in western Augusta County.

The Churchville Branch Library is now part of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which is an early childhood literacy program.

It allows children up to age five in the areas of Churchville, Craigsville, Deerfield, Augusta Springs, West Augusta, Swoope and Goshen to get one free hardback book in the mail every month.

Churchville Branch Library manager Jack Holt says, "A child enrolled at birth in the Imagination Library will have on his or her fifth birthday, a bookshelf of 60 hardback books that they can call their own, and I just think it's a great start to one of the great pleasures in life."

You can register your child for the program at Churchville, Deerfield or Craigsville Branch Libraries and some county schools.
