One business in Harrisonburg is celebrating despite hard economic times.

Gitchell's Photography has been in operation for 100 years, so recessions are nothing new. It opened along East Market Street in May 1909.

The company focuses on portrait photography and workers say business has been just fine during the past few months.

For people at the business, next month's milestone is a reason to rejoice.

"This is! I mean it is to me. Maybe not to a lot of people but this is huge to me, to my family," says owner Christa Gitchell.

Store owners say Gitchell's is one of the only places left in the state that develops black and white film.
