Man Arrested for Winchester Attempted Rape

The Winchester Police Department has arrested a man in connection with an abduction and attempted rape.

Authorities say David Ray Gay locked a 23-year-old woman in a room at a house on Molden Drive late Saturday night.

He allegedly punched, choked and threatened to kill her. Police says he then sexually assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

The woman escaped and called police.

Officials say Gay ran from the house. Gay turned himself in late Sunday night.

The 32 year old faces charges of abduction, malicious wounding, attempted rape, object sexual penetration and forcible sodomy.

He's in the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center without bond.

The victim was treated at Winchester Medical Center for her injuries.
