Flu season is here, and Saturday parents learned how to protect their children from spreading germs at the first annual Children's Health Fair in Harrisonburg.
The event was sponsored and held at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg.
The goal of the event was to provide parents with safety and health information they can use to protect their children. Tables were set up with information on keeping germs at bay along with free samples of hand sanitizer.
The Harrisonburg Fire Department was also there to educate parents and kids on fire safety.
Kids were able to get their face painted and even win some door prizes to make the day a fun one for the whole family.
"Lots of agencies have come to share their ideas with us, and we also have games for kids to play and lots of cool prizes have been donated. We hope the children and parents will learn some safety and health information that will be beneficial to them," says Linda Conrad of the Otterbein United Methodist. Conrad also says that the event was a successful one and the church hopes to continue putting on the health fair in the years to come.
