Attorneys for a local politician have a little more time to make their clients' case. Middletown's former mayor, Gene Dicks, is under fire for allegedly embezzling town supplies.
The former mayor is charged with one count of embezzlement following a two-year investigation by Virginia State Police.
Middletown's current mayor, Mark Brown, says Dicks is a close friend who used bad judgment.
"Everything I've heard about him historically, and everything I've learned in working with him, an incredible individual," says Brown. "He's given most of his adult life to this community. He's well respected, regardless of what's going on right now."
Dicks is scheduled to be in Frederick County Circuit Court in early June.
Town maintenance supervisor, Glen Milller, was also charged in the investigation. He faces four counts of embezzlement for fraudulent use of town equipment.
