The Greenbrier resort has started calling back all employees who were furloughed over the winter.

Jim Justice, the owner of a company that announced last week it had acquired the rights to the historic resort from CSX Corp., said Tuesday the employees are needed to help The Greenbrier become a leader in the luxury hospitality industry.

The resort furloughed nearly half its 1,350 employees in January as it struggled to fill its rooms.

The Greenbrier filed for bankruptcy protection in March after losing more than $90 million in the past five years. Justice plans to ask a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Richmond, Virginia next week to dismiss the Chapter 11 case.

Hotel giant Marriott International Inc. says it has had a purchase agreement for the resort since March.
