The man accused of killing 19-year-old Reginald "Shay" Nicholson in November is expected to enter a guilty plea.
Eighteen-year-old Zackery Turner is scheduled to be in Rockingham County Circuit Court Thursday morning.
According to a copy of the plea agreement, he is going to plead guilty to three charges including first degree murder.
He will be sentenced to 58 years with all but 30 years suspended. Following his release, he faces ten years of supervised probation.
The maximum sentence he faced on the murder charge was life in prison and a fine no greater than $100,000.
Police say he shot Nicholson outside a party at Hunters Ridge, an off-campus student housing complex in Harrisonburg.
Turner was arrested days after the November 9 shooting.
The case garnered significant attention and renewed concerns about safety at so-called "open door" parties to which anyone can gain entry.
Along with Turner, four other men were arrested in the case on gang-related charges. Court records show Jahmain Faqiri, Gregory Baker and Ricky Parrish will still go to trial together in June.
The fourth man, Demonds Parrish, remains free on bond.
