This year's farm bill includes thousands of subsidies but they may not be enough to help Valley farmers.
Prices for dairy and beef have been steadily dropping.
But, the farm bill does include a new program that'll give money directly to dairy farmers to make up for the low prices. It's called the Dairy Market Loss Payment Program.
The drought is also causing problems for farmers all across the Valley. But, there's nothing in the farm bill to help.
And the avian flu has cost farmers millions of dollars. There's no relief in the farm bill, but legislators are trying to come up with something else.
"All these forces together are impacting farmers to an extent that frankly I don't know that any government program necessarily is going to rescue them," Tom Stanley says.
Stanley says dairy and grain farmers will benefit the most from the bill.
