An environmental group says two of six people arrested on trespassing charges during a coal mining protest are now free and that it is raising money to pay bail for the others.

Climate Ground Zero director Mike Roselle said Monday that the group hopes to have the other four protesters freed by midday Tuesday. The group will ask a magistrate judge to reduce the $2,000 bail for each person.

All six were arrested Saturday at Massey Energy Co.'s Marfork Coal mining complex in Pettus.

Climate Ground Zero and Mountain Justice members were protesting Richmond, Virginia-based Massey's plan to blast at the mine. The groups say blasting could cause a coal slurry dam at the site to collapse.

Massey operates mines in West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia.
