The former chief executive of a West Virginia Internet company who pleaded guilty to a money laundering conspiracy charge has to wait until August to be sentenced.
Heidi Laughery was to be sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Huntington, but the 47-year-old woman's sentencing was continued to August 24.
The Meadville, Pennsylvania woman was accused of conspiring with others to misappropriate about $4 million in loans and grants provided to Sequelle Communications Alliance Inc. by the state and federal governments, the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council and United Bank.
The company was to provide broadband Internet service to rural areas of West Virginia and Ohio and create up to 45 jobs.
Laughery ran the company from September 2001 to March 2005.
