Federal prosecutors in Boston have charged a Virginia doctor with writing tens of thousands of prescriptions for muscle relaxants and other drugs over the Internet without examining the patients.
Dr. Torino Jennings of Mechanicsville, Virginia was charged Thursday with seven counts of introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce and four counts of tax evasion.
Prosecutors allege that between 2004 and 2007, Jennings issued from 50,000 to 100,000 prescriptions based on forms completed for online pharmacies. Jennings was paid from $5 to $7 per prescription, and allegedly never reported the money to the Internal Revenue Service.
Jennings did not immediately return a message left at his office at Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

i was a patient of mr. jennings. he was a very good dr. i had to follow him once he left his last practice. i could not believe what they are charging him with. he was always adamant in making sure his patients come in for their appointment before he perscribed any meds to me or his patients.
