Two men are accused of setting a vehicle on fire in Hinton, where a series of arsons has left residents on edge.

Police say 20-year-old Benny Lee Adkins and 20-year-old George Henry Ruff are each charged with third-degree arson in connection with the May 2 fire.

Adkins and Ruff are being held at the Southern Regional Jail. They were scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Summers County Magistrate Court.

Authorities are continuing to investigate more than 20 suspicious fires that have occurred in Hinton in the past 17 months. Assistant state Fire Marshal Scott Rodes has said the fires have damaged homes, a church parsonage and garage.
