An embezzlement case involving emergency responders in New Market is moving forward.

Nancy Mitchell and Sheila Hirsh both face embezzlement charges.

On Wednesday, a judge decided to try the women together. Their trial is set for September 2 in Shenandoah County.

Mitchell is the former president of the New Market Volunteer Fire Company. She's one of seven volunteers fired last year after allegations of embezzlement surfaced.

Hirsh is a former member of the New Market Rescue Squad. A criminal complaint says she took $990 from the squad. The complaint says Mitchell asked Hirsh to take the money so she could be bailed out of jail.

Sheila Hirsh is also a past member of New Market Volunteer Fire Company. She is a past book keeper for the organization. It sure would be nice to see some closure for the two volunteer companies. Send them all to jail where they belong!

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
