Wednesday's powerful storms knocked out electricity to hundreds of residents around the Valley.

Page County was under a tornado warning for some time Wednesday night. The storms passed through violently, tearing apart a mobile home on Pond Avenue in Stanley.

Neighbors report that a girl was injured inside the home. Her injuries are not serious.

No other nearby homes were damaged.

Deputies were working with chain saws to clear trees and debris from the streets and neighborhoods. Fire crews and workers from the Virginia Department of Transportation also helped with the effort.

Workers are expected to return Thursday morning to continue clearing debris.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
