Fort Lee officials say fewer illegal immigrants are trying to come onto the post to work in construction projects following a two-year enforcement effort.
About a dozen illegal immigrants have been arrested so far this year, compared to nearly 90 in each of the past two years.
Col. Joe Metzger of the Fort Lee Provost Marshal's Office says word of the crackdown has gotten out and contractors are no longer taking chances.
