KHR, I know the bears need somewhere to live just as we do, but, how would you feel if your four year old little girl went outside in the daytime and was within 10 feet of 200 lb bear? I will tell you how it feels, it was the scariest moment of my life to know the danger my little girl was in. Then to have the game warden tell me they don't set traps!! I think it is horrible that the commonwealth of Virginia thinks that not disturbing a bear is more important than the safety of children! I am so thankful that I was going out right with my daughter, I hate to think what could have happened to my baby!

I for one am getting really tired of the bear situation in our mobile home park. He has a den in my backyard and of course, trash is no problem for him. I put bungy cords really tight on my neighbors trash can and he did not get the cords off but got all the trash out of the can anyway. I know we have to do things to prevent this happening but why do we have to have our whole life changed when the bears can be moved. I have been told that the den will be pushed down but it is still out there and no one cares any more. I come in late at night and it is scary when the bear is sitting on my front porch like he belongs there. I am afraid he is going to break in. One family had the bear get in their car and another family had the bear right in the back yard with their kids. I guess someone will have to get hurt before something is done.
