Virginia has some new ideas to protect you in the event of an emergency.
Tuesday, Gov. Mark Warner released the first report from the Secure Virginia panel.
The panel's goal is to improve the state's preparedness for disasters and emergencies, including terrorist attacks.
Among the recommendations, background checks for public sector employees in sensitive positions, and upgrade to the emergency alert system, security improvements for the state's computer systems and a permanent website for communication with the public during disasters
That Web site will be www.vaemergency.com.
