Augusta County could soon be expanding its fire and rescue coverage.

The county is considering starting a new fire station in the Riverheads area.

County officials plan to host a meeting later this month to ask for volunteers and see if the community has interest in a fire and rescue station.

The meeting will be held at Riverheads High School June 25, at 7 p.m.

Currently the closest fire department to Riverheads is in Middlebrook, about five miles away.
