New Filtration

Some residents in Augusta County will soon be drinking cleaner water.

That's thanks to a new filtration system being installed in Augusta Springs today.

Officials with the Augusta County Service Authority say the old filtration system for drinking water didn't meet new state requirements.

Installation began early this morning on the new filtration system. Crews expect to be working in Augusta Springs until Thursday to complete the project.

Operations supervisor Pat Conroy says that Augusta County is ahead of the curve in trying to give its residents the cleanest water possible. Pat Conroy stated, "I think it’s gonna affect Augusta County residents and I think they're gonna notice a difference in their water. It's gonna clean their water up dramatically much more so than the filter system we had in before."

Officials say residents should start to see and taste a difference in their water by the beginning of next week.
