Augusta County Sheriff's deputies are one step closer to solving the murder of 36-year-old Misty Phillips.

Investigator Paul McCormick says Phillips' boyfriend, 39-year-old Timothy Wilkins, confessed to strangling her Friday night when he was arrested in the Food Lion parking lot in Verona.

Police believe the murder occurred two days before Wilkins was taken into custody.

McCormick says the sheriff's office is piecing together what Wilkins was doing 48 hours before his arrest through interviews with friends and witnesses. He says he hopes to find clearer answers in a week's time.

People who knew Misty say she was a heavy drinker. Seems that neither of these people were model citizens.

I can't understand what this woman saw in this man who has been so violent in the past. All women who are being abused should get away from someone like this immediately! This is how domestic violence winds up! I don't care what they promise about the future; the relationship may go well for a week, or just days, and then back to the beatings and abuse again, and each time it worsens. This is the end result more times than we like to think! These men are not worth it, and it is not worth having your children motherless over a worthless man!
