Volunteers have been working overtime to make sure this Fourth of July stands out.

"The Valley Fourth is an Independence Festival. We thought it was about time we had something of that nature in Harrisonburg- Rockingham County," says Judy Levine of the Arts Council of the Valley.

Everything from the red, white and blue to speakers and risers- folks from the Arts Council of the Valley have thought of just about every detail. Musical groups will perform here and keep the party going.

And, if it's too hot for you and the family outside- there's plenty to do inside. Visit towns throughout Rockingham County on a living map. Or find out what local children think it means to be an American. Either way this Fourth of July is standing out in people's minds- especially after Sept. 11.

"That's why I wore this shirt- yup. I guess it will take forever for that to leave- you know?" says Ron Skirkey of Bridgewater.

"In light of Sept. 11, it seems like we need to go back to basics and what is it about our country that we really appreciate and really matters to us," explains Levine.
