The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment benefits are up slightly despite a drop in unemployment numbers as a whole.

Still, there is one local mom who is managing to stay at home and earn some extra cash.

Some people say that "stay at home moms" are a thing of the past, but one Churchville mother says she's making full-time pay while staying at home. However, she wouldn't be able to do so without the Internet.

Kim Curry spends the day watching her kids play, helping them do homework and teaching them how to read.

Even with all that, she also takes a few hours of her day to work for her online networking company, NuSkin. She says, as long as you have a computer, you can find online jobs.

Curry encourages anyone looking for work to go online, but she also says people need to do so with caution.

She says, "I had to go to a couple of conferences to see that everything is real and I researched it thoroughly. This is not one of the scams, fortunately enough for me."

Curry has found success and she's happy with her work.

She adds, "It's all simple, easy and fun. I have a great group to work with and I love it."
