A fourth rabies case has been confirmed in Summers County after a raccoon killed by a dog tested positive for the virus.

Chad Meador with the Summers County Health Department says the raccoon was killed in the Ellison Ridge Road area near Jumping Branch. The animal tested positive for rabies Tuesday.

Meador says the dog wasn't vaccinated. The dog was placed under quarantine for six months after its owner refused to have it euthanized.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
