A former James Madison University football player has pleaded guilty to three robbery charges.

Michael Brown pleaded guilty to robbing a Harrisonburg Exxon, a TJ Maxx store, and La Tienda Raquel, a small convenience and grocery store in 2006.

However, Brown claims the gun used in all three robberies was not real.

Brown was extradited from Iowa earlier this year, where he was sentenced to ten years in prison bars for breaking and entering.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on the Harrisonburg charges in August.

Why does WHSV and the DNR feel the need to include that Brown used to be a JMU football player? Is it a ploy at garnering sympathy for him before he is sentenced? "Oh the poor black man that could have been a professional player, if it wasn't for (insert favorite liberal excuse)."
