A gas station in Rockingham County was damaged Monday night after a truck that was pumping gas caught fire.

The fire happened at the Pure gas station on Brocks Gap Road near Fulks Run. The truck caught fire after it failed to start. It was destroyed.

Several fire crews responded. However, no injuries were reported.

The station owner, Bill Adams, says his workers acted quickly to make sure the flames didn't ignite the gasoline.

"The employees hit the emergency shutoff switch before leaving the building," says Adams. "And that was a very smart move on their part."

Part of the station was also damaged by the fire. The flames spread up a post and onto the roof.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why the truck caught fire.
