Searchers have recovered a body from the Ohio River that authorities believe is that of a Parkersburg man who disappeared after a boat capsized.

Police say the body was discovered in the water Wednesday afternoon several miles downriver from where the boat capsized Saturday between Blennerhassett Island and Belpre, Ohio.

Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair says he believes the body is that of 20-year-old Jeremy Midcap. The body was sent to the state medical examiner for identification.

Midcap was one of seven people on the boat. Authorities said his father, 50-year-old David Midcap of Parkersburg, was declared dead at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. Five others made it safely to shore.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
