The Harrisonburg Police Department, the city fire department and local businesses will come together to host a safe kids event this weekend.

Saturday's events will feature various types of safety information and demonstrations for children and their parents.

Safe Kids USA is an organization that spreads messages on how to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children under the age of 14.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Country Cookin' entrance of the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg.
