A stretch of road in Augusta County has been the location of another crash, the most recent of which occurred Sunday afternoon and killed two men.
The crash happened on Shenandoah Mountain Drive, about a half mile west of Deerfield Valley Road.
Delbert Redmen of Troy and Michael Neve of Midlothian were riding their motorcycles around a sharp turn in opposite directions and hit head-on.
Police say Neve crossed the double yellow lines and was killed instantly.
Redman died while waiting to be airlifted to the hospital.
State police warn drivers to pay attention when driving on that curve.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Rossetti says, "There's a very sharp curve coming around the corner here. Your visibility is very limited, because you're not able to see exactly what is in front of you. There's no room for margin of error."
The crash is still under investigation. Both bodies were taken to Augusta Health.
On May 30, another crash occurred in the same area involving a Toyota Tacoma and three motorcycles.
In that crash, five people were injured, including two seriously, but all recovered from their injuries. The driver of the Tacoma, Sean Stanton, was charged with second offense DUI.
Latest Comments
All have NOT recovered from the May 30th accident. One is wheelchair bound for a few more months and another just got home from the hospital 2 weeks ago after having 5 surgeries. So they are far from "recovered".
