Residents are speaking out about the third crash in just one month on one stretch of road in the Valley.

Ray Kodger came back to his West Augusta home Sunday to flashing sirens and a blocked off driveway.

A motorcycle crash took the lives of two Virginia men, and Kodger says it's not the first time he's seen trouble on the road.

Kodger says, "It's a bad stretch of road and as you can probably tell the cars, believe it or not, they pass out here."

He recalls more than five crashes in the past two years on Route 250, about a mile after it crosses over Deerfield Valley Road.

In the last month, three crashes have occurred, all of which involved motorcycles. Two of those crashes have been deadly.

Kodger adds, "There's no leeway. Then certain roads the turns dip funny and it throws you different ways. I say that also plays a factor also."

Virginia State Police Sgt. Mike Rossett says the road can be unforgiving for motorists who let their eyes wander, even for just a couple of seconds.

Rossetti says, "There is a very limited shoulder out there. West Augusta is country near the national forest. There is really not much of a wide shoulder."

Kodger adds, "You don't have no second chances. That's one thing about the roadway that I see. There's not much shoulder. There's not much room to play with."

While Kodger has live in the road for almost 30 years, he says he's started to take precautions to make sure he doesn't fall victim to what's becoming an infamous stretch.

He adds, "Anybody that comes here. I say whatever you do, don't back out onto that road because it's dangerous. I always tell them to turn around and then pull out."

State police say they will continue to monitor the area to make sure speeding or distracted drivers don't add to the problem around the winding roads.

I know that bit of road. All it takes is a bit of rain and you can get some real surprises there. And don't get me started about how people pass if you decide to "take it easy".

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
