The Verona Fire Department will not be investigating a Tuesday fire called in by a passerby who called 911. The fire was planned.

A single-wide mobile home on Quicks Mill Road was burned as part of a controlled demolition around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Everything inside was removed, and instead of disposing of the trailer at a dump, the owner had it burned down.

Verona fire officials say that, in these situations, a Department of Environmental Quality permit is required and the Augusta County Burnline is notified.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
