Air travel can be complicated enough, but what about during the holiday season?
As air traffic picks up, airport officials are urging people to keep track of security rules.
Rob McKearney travels a lot and says it can get frustrating keeping track of the rules for what you can carry on an airplane.
"At a little regional airport like here its not a big deal, but when you get up to Dulles and try to get through security, when you’re behind people who have no clue, they're not reading the posters, its disconcerting when your trying to catch your flight," says McKearney.
Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport Director Greg Campbell says things get more complicated on the holidays.
"Yea, the holidays we do see more challenges expediting the screening process because we're dealing with things we don't normally deal with and passengers that don't travel as often," says Campbell.
Many of the same rules from the past few months still apply with liquids.
They must all be under three ounce containers, be in a one quart clear plastic bag, and only one bag for customers.
You can only have two carry on items that can fit under the seat and two items less than 50 pounds checked, which includes presents. If it goes beyond that you'll have to pay extra for shipping.
"If they wrap them before they arrive in the airport there's a chance that in the screening process they'll be asked to un-wrap them during the screening process," says Campbell.
Airline officials say the holiday air traffic will really kick in on Friday.
