An employee at an Apple store in Arlington's upscale Clarendon section is recovering from a gunshot wound.

Police say the 26-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder by a man who rang a doorbell at the back of the store before it opened Friday morning. The shooter fled, and police used helicopter and K-9 units to conduct a sweep of the area.

Police are describing the incident as an attempted robbery.
