Two boys from Weyers Cave have been hurt in a fireplace accident near their home on Fadley Road.
Rescue workers say a free-standing fireplace, weighing about 500 pounds, fell on the boys.
One boy, seven-year-old Luke Yoder, has critical head injuries. The other boy has a broken leg and is recovering at home.
Yoder's parents are currently with him at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
One rescue worker says these kind of situations are never easy.
"It does pull on your emotions, especially myself. I have a child the same age. It does precipitate those emotions when you get involved in it, but our personnel are very professional," says Steve Powell, Rockingham County Fire and Rescue.
Yoder was airlifted to UVA after the Monday afternoon accident.
Several rescue teams responded, including Bridgewater Fire and Rescue, Weyers Cave Fire and Rescue and Rockingham County Fire and Rescue.
