Warm Winter Weather

Every year people come from all over to the valley to Massanutten resort for vacation, but what happens when you come to ski and the weather doesn't cooperate?

It's winter and that means it's time to hit the links and grab your surfboard. That's what many people are doing at Massanutten resort this holiday season.

It's a four season resort and since it feels more like spring, some vacationers gave up there skis for golf clubs. We had hoped to do a little skiing, maybe some horse back riding with my wife and daughter, but it’s such a beautiful day, I'm out here trying to hit a little white ball around.

As for the white stuff up on the slopes, people are making due with man made snow, and for Max, an exchange student from Columbia, it was good enough.

"Well, I think it's very good, but there's not a lot of snow, so that's kind of bad so it doesn't help. But we have this fake snow and it's very fun."

The Hernandez couple from Florida says finding snow anywhere this season is a difficult task.

"We've been in NY in the mountains. We are like chasing the snow like tornadoes. We can't get any snow anywhere we go. Our kids get to ski but we feel like we're chasing it all over."

For those who weren't in the mood for snowboarding, there's always surfing. Managers say the indoor water park is a popular place this season, and unlike the outdoors, the weather in the water park is always perfect.

The ski staff says they see mostly beginners on the slopes during weather like this because it's less crowded and the more difficult runs aren't open yet. The management at Massanutten says snow or no snow, when the weather doesn't cooperate guests can find other activities to enjoy on their vacation.
