Governor Tim Kaine is entering his second year in office and is again challenging legislators on state transportation funding.
Six days after taking office last January, the Democrat proposed three-point-five billion dollars in new fines, fees and taxes for long-term revenues to fund transportation projects. But it never passed.
Now Kaine wants 500 million dollars directed to a handful of modest projects across the state.
Kaine intends to pursue additional ongoing revenue exclusively for transportation.
